TOSS UP: EDIBLE FUTURES

The Institute for the Future’s food team delved deep into the landscape of emerging technologies that might help us transcend the limits of food systems for 2 years prior to this event. In 2014, they began exploring how three levers of change–technology and entrepreneurship, agriculture and the food industry, and an active and engaged social dynamic–are together accelerating innovation faster than we thought possible even a few years ago.
The Mixing Bowl held an interactive discussion with the Institute for the Future on their work. After a brief introduction, we broke into groups to share ideas, opportunities, and challenges the next decade holds for food production, distribution, manufacturing, shopping, and eating as well as optional discussion on “Best practices and fundraising tips for food entrepreneurs”.
