May 3, 2015 - May 9, 2015

We took a week long trip to Italy for the opening week of Food EXPO Milan 2015. This year’s theme was “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, encouraging a platform for the exchange of ideas and shared solutions around food. Over 140 countries showcased premier technologies geared toward ensuring healthy, safe, and sufficient food for all over 1.1 million square meters of exhibition area.

As with past global Food Geeks Travel events, the Mixing Bowl coordinated in-country lodging and transportation, but not flights. We participated in a hackathon with the Food Innovation Program, a project launched by the Future Food Institute (Bologna) and the Institute for the Future (Palo Alto). We also took part in one day of the Feeding the Planet Consortium’s Food Cluster Week at the Parco Tecnologico Padano.
