The Mixing Bowl co-hosted a Solutions Summit at UC Davis with the World Food Center, Innovation Institute for Food & Health and Apps for Ag. The event introduced academics, thought leaders, policy makers, industry executives, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and technology developers in an “out of the box” format.
The Apps for Ag Hackathon addressed specific challenges presented by California food producers with leading software and hardware developers and a select number of business experts participating.
At the same time, The Mixing Bowl “Idea Hack” tackled the biggest challenges at the intersection of food, agriculture and health. UC Davis Faculty and experts from different backgrounds generated solutions to key concerns. Participants were divided into groups and each group received one concern for discussion followed by group presentations for their outcome. Presentations were judged and cash prizes were awarded to the winners before the reception.
On December 3rd, the public was invited to a daylong showcase of thought leadership and innovation. The agenda included:
- Reports on the IIFH Challenge Definition and forthcoming Request for Innovation
- Fast pitch presentations from cutting-edge companies and world-class researchers
- Presentation & judging and prizes for solutions from the hackathon and idea hack
